The Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Young Progressives Party, Apostle Nyeneime Andy, has called on party members and supporters to remain calm and be hopeful, as legal proceedings were already in motion to recover the mandate of the party’s governorship candidate, Bassey Akpan.
Andy made the call over the weekend, while addressing members-elect for Ikono and Ibiono Akwa Ibom state constituencies, Asuquo Nana Udo and Moses Essien respectively, as they formally presented their Certificates of Return before the state party officers at the YPP state secretariat in Uyo.
According to him, their mandate was stolen, because prior to the governorship election they enjoyed massive acceptance and popularity, which the party believes was a clear indication that they won the election.
He, therefore, appealed to party faithfuls to remain calm as they await victory in court in order to allegedly recover their mandate from the Peoples Democratic Party. He also encouraged the members-elect on the platform of YPP to invest in humans as it is the best and highest investment in life.
Leadership reported that in responding, the aforementioned lawmakers-elect Essien and Nana saluted the leadership of the party for giving them a veritable platform to contest and win against the will of the ruling party.
