The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Usman Okai, has criticized Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State for his actions during his first 100 days in office.
Okai accused Governor Ododo of spending taxpayers’ money chauffeuring around the former Governor of the State, Yahaya Bello, instead of addressing pressing issues like education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Okai condemned Ododo’s prioritization of the “whims of a political ally over the needs of the people,” labeling it as sycophancy. He stated, “While our schools crumble and our hospitals remain under-equipped, Ododo saw fit to dedicate his time to serving as a personal chauffeur, a luxury reserved for the elite while the masses suffer.”
According to Okai, Governor Ododo’s actions are a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the citizens of Kogi State. He argued that it sends a wrong message to hardworking citizens relying on elected officials to bring positive change.
Okai emphasized, “Governor Ododo’s actions speak volumes about his character and his commitment to the people he was elected to serve.”
He further criticized those who remained silent, stating, “Those who stand by silently, complicit in his actions, are just as guilty.” Okai urged the people to hold their leaders accountable, demanding better representation and a commitment to justice and equality for all.
In conclusion, Okai stated, “Governor Ododo’s 100 days have been marked by a shameful display of self-interest and negligence. We deserve better, and it is up to us to ensure that our voices are heard loud and clear.”
