Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to build a collaborative relationship with traditional rulers in the state, shunning threats and intimidation.
During a meeting with traditional leaders, the governor appointed a new chairman for the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, the King of Apara Kingdom.
Governor Fubara reflected on a past incident where a former governor had threatened a traditional leader, vowing to take a different approach.
He emphasized his commitment to unity and cooperation, seeking to promote peace and progress in the state.
This move marks a shift in approach from the previous administration, signaling a new era of cooperation between the government and traditional institutions in Rivers State, according to Politics Nigeria.
Fubara said he would use a different approach, choosing to appeal to the monarchs rather than issuing threats.
“I remember when we went to Ahoada-East, Ekpeye land, for an event,” he recalled. “A former Governor openly threatened one of you, warning that if you try it, I will do this, I will do that.”
