In preparation for a smooth and safe Easter celebration, the Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has ramped up its operational efforts by deploying personnel and vehicles throughout the state.
This includes the recent addition of two patrol vehicles donated by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, made this known during a press briefing conducted along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor as part of a field inspection tour.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Sector’s Public Education Officer, Elizabeth Jayeola, Hamzat reiterated the command’s full readiness to safeguard all road users during the 2025 Easter celebration.
“Both Regular and Special Marshals have been strategically positioned across major highways, inner roads, and festive routes to ease vehicular movement and ensure safety for all road users throughout the 2025 Easter period,” Hamzat stated.
He also pointed out that emergency preparedness had been prioritized, with ambulances stationed along key routes to offer prompt response and rescue services when needed.
“There will be standby ambulances positioned along critical corridors for swift emergency response and rescue operations.
“We are also collaborating with relevant traffic and emergency stakeholders to ensure smooth entry and exit of Lagos during this festive period,” he added.
To ensure traffic laws are upheld, Hamzat revealed that mobile courts would be operational throughout the period, ready to handle serious infractions in real-time.
“Mobile court operations will be active to swiftly prosecute traffic offenders, with a special focus on offences such as drunk driving, speeding, expired tyres, seat belt violation, and use of phones while driving,” he said.
He appealed to drivers to remain law-abiding and to cooperate fully with officers during the holiday.
“Drivers must avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. One night of thrill should not lead to a lifetime of regret. Fix your wipers, drive cautiously, and remember, your family awaits you,” he warned.
Hamzat also extended safety advice to pedestrians and other vulnerable road users, urging them to exercise caution and stay alert while navigating traffic zones.
“FRSC Lagos remains committed to a crash-free celebration and encourages all residents to play their part in making this possible,” the statement concluded.
