The Federal Executive Council will convene an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday to address the lingering minimum wage dispute between the federal government and organized labour.
According to sources, the council will review the report of the tripartite committee, which recommends a minimum wage of N62,000.
However, labour unions, comprising the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, are demanding a minimum wage of N250,000.
President Bola Tinubu will chair the meeting, which aims to resolve the impasse and pave the way for an executive bill to be presented to the National Assembly, according to Politics Nigeria.
This special meeting marks a departure from the usual Monday schedule, approved by the President.
The outcome of today’s deliberations is expected to have significant implications for the nation’s workforce and the economy.
