A former Chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Isa Muhammad-Wabi, has been tragically stabbed to death in his residence by a group of youths.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, on Friday, May 2, 2025.
According to the police, the fatal attack occurred at Wabi’s residence in Fadaman Mada, behind Government Girls Secondary School, Bauchi, during the early hours of the day.
Preliminary findings point to acquaintances of his 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, as the suspected perpetrators.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances of his son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, aged 24,” Wakil stated.
He further identified the suspected assailants as Ahmad Abdulkadir, known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, popularly called Ajebo.
The two reportedly entered the house at around 3:00 a.m. and launched a coordinated attack on Mr. Wabi.
“The investigation suggests that Ahmad Abdulkadir, also known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, referred to as Ajebo, had entered the home around 3.00am and subsequently conspired to assault Mr. Wabi. He sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck,” the statement revealed.
The Command received a distress alert at approximately 4:03 a.m. and swiftly deployed officers to the scene.
“In the early morning of 2nd May 2025, at about 0403 hours (4.03am), the Police Command received a distress call from a Good Samaritan concerning an incident involving an attack by a group of youths at Fadaman Mada, located behind Government Girls Secondary School, Bauchi,” Wakil said.
Responding officers discovered the 66-year-old ex-LG boss gravely injured and rushed him to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
The statement also disclosed that one of the attackers, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, possibly a result of retaliation by an enraged individual and later died at the hospital.
“One of the suspects, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, likely due to retaliatory action from an enraged individual. He was also taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead,” Wakil added.
The victim’s son, Abdulgafar, is currently in police custody and is said to be cooperating with investigators.
“Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed has been taken into custody for questioning and has cooperated, providing valuable information to the authorities,” the police noted.
Meanwhile, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has personally visited the victim’s family to offer condolences and reinforce the Command’s commitment to justice.
“The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the deceased house, extended condolences to the families affected by this tragic event, and assured them that the investigation will diligently pursue those responsible for this grievous act,” Wakil stressed.
The Command emphasized that a full-scale investigation is ongoing to determine all individuals involved in the crime.
