Arsenal cruised to a dominant 4-0 win over Ipswich Town on Sunday, effectively dashing Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes.
Leandro Trossard netted twice, while Ipswich’s Leif Davis received a red card for a reckless challenge on Bukayo Saka.
With the victory, the Gunners climbed to 66 points, holding second place on the table. Despite the loss for Ipswich, Liverpool, who are scheduled to face relegation-threatened Leicester City later, still require just two more wins from their final fixtures to clinch the title.
Arsenal asserted control early on and were rewarded when Trossard opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Gabriel Martinelli then made it 2-0 in the 28th minute with an easy finish.
The match turned further in Arsenal’s favor when Reid was shown a straight red card after his studs caught the back of Saka’s leg.
Trossard found the net again in the 69th minute, while Ethan Nwaneri came off the bench to slot home a fourth late on.
Ipswich remain in 18th place with 21 points, and relegation looms, any more dropped points or a single point gained by 17th-placed West Ham in their five remaining games would seal their fate.
