A significant security presence has been deployed around the Nasarawa Palace, the official residence of the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
This comes after the Kano State Government ordered the eviction of the former traditional ruler to pave the way for the reconstruction and renovation of the property.
According to the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Isah Dederi, the eviction is necessary to facilitate the planned renovation works.
The palace, which is owned by the state government, has been cordoned off by security personnel to prevent any potential interference from thugs.
Heavy machinery, including bulldozers and excavators, has been deployed to the site, indicating that demolition works may commence soon, according to Politics Nigeria.
The development comes despite a Federal High Court ruling that nullified the removal of Emir Bayero and others by the state government.
The Kano State Government has maintained that Emir Sanusi Muhammad II remains the rightful Emir of Kano, despite the court’s decision.
The situation remains tense, with security forces keeping a close watch on the palace and its surroundings.
