The Anambra North candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Tony Nwoye, has urged Nigerian youths to be part of the electoral system come 2023, to enable them determine who leads them afterwards.
Nwonye, who is a former president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, spoke at Nsugbe in Anambra East Local Government while signing peace accord to demonstrate his commitment towards peaceful and credible poll.
He emphasized the need for the social media inclined youths to obtain their permanent voter cards, as the campaign on social media is different from actualising their dreams through voting.
According to him, what is most important is the inclusion of youths and persons with disabilities in the forthcoming elections, underscoring the need for them to be encouraged, engaged and empowered to ensure a peaceful nation.
The Nation reported that the Executive Director, Catch Them Young Community Initiative, Nonso Orakwe, who was also present during the event, said the visit was to partner the candidate to foster peaceful and credible election in his zone.
He said, “CATYCOI is a youth-led organisation determined to promote good governance and democracy.
“We are here for you to make a commitment for a peaceful election and to support youths, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) agenda.”
