The son of the Kaduna State Governor, Bashir El-Rufai, has stated that the presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, would be the “next President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Bashir, who is known for expressing his view through the social media, said those critics, who refer to the former Kano governor as the ‘President of Kano’ or ‘One state president,’ following his performance in the last presidential election.
Kwankwaso, who contested in the last February 25 presidential election in Nigeria, won only Kano State with a score of 997,279 votes, while polling a total score of 1,496,687 votes, to come third in election.
Before the general election, there was assumption that if Kwankwaso could team-up with Peter Obi of the Labour Party, that might win them the election.
Also, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, who came second in the presidential election, with a total score of 6,984,520 votes, tried to woo Kwankwaso to his camp, by asking him to collapse his political structure in Kano for him, so as to win the election, but the plea did not yield result.
However, After loosing the election to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, who Polled a score of 8,794,726 votes, loyalists of the LP and PDP, shifted the blame on Kwankwaso, saying that, he should have joined hands with either Obi or Atiku, to defeat the ruling party, APC.
