The Allied Peoples Movement in Osun State has called on the state government to expedite action on critical infrastructure development, especially in the areas of road construction, healthcare, and education, to ensure a better life for the citizens of the state.
This appeal comes amidst ongoing challenges related to the state’s infrastructure, which have been highlighted by citizens and local organizations.
The call was made by the party in a statement issued by the Chairman, Wale Adebayo, on Sunday in Osogbo. The APM emphasized the urgent need for the government to address the poor condition of essential road corridors.
“The festive season is a time of increased travel, and the deplorable state of key roads poses a significant risk to the safety of citizens.”
“It is unfortunate that the government failed to take cognizance of the festive period to put control measures in place to direct vehicular movement. This shows that the welfare of the people is not in the mind of the government.”
“APM demands that the government takes concrete steps to address the infrastructure deficit in Osun State, particularly LAMECO-Okefia-Old Garage, which is in a bad state, ensuring safe and easy travel for all citizens during this festive season and beyond.”
The party also expressed their prayers for peace, prosperity, and progress in Osun State and Nigeria at large.
It is worth noting that the state government has previously embarked on significant infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation and facelift of critical infrastructure. The state government has undertaken the construction of five flyovers in Osogbo, Ikirun, Owode-Ede, and Ile-Ife towns, as well as the expansion of major roads within the state capital and other important towns. Despite these efforts, the APM’s statement underscores the ongoing concerns regarding the condition and adequacy of these developments.
