Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has highlighted the administration’s accomplishments as they prepare to hand over power.
Under Governor Godwin Obaseki’s leadership, Edo State became Nigeria’s top sports destination, transformed education, revitalized healthcare, and developed infrastructure.
Taking to X, Shaibu thanked Edo citizens for their support and partnership, citing the administration’s “Making Edo Great Again” mantra as their guiding principle.
Shaibu’s tenure was marked by resilience, including impeachment by the state House of Assembly, later overturned by an Abuja Federal High Court. He defected to the All Progressives Congress amidst the fallout.
In the recent governorship election, APC’s Monday Okpebholo defeated PDP’s Asue Ighodalo, Governor Obaseki’s preferred candidate.
According to Shaibu: “Welcome to November, a month of thanksgiving and transition.
“As I reflect on our eight remarkable years in office, I am filled with gratitude for the trust Edo people have placed in us. It has been an honour serving as your Deputy Governor.
“As we prepare to hand over the reins, I am proud of our achievements: from making Edo State the Number 1 Sports destination, to transforming education, revitalizing healthcare, down to infrastructure development. Our administration’s mantra, “Making Edo Great Again” (MEGA), has been more than just a slogan – it has been our guiding principle.
“To my fellow Edo citizens, I thank you for your support, encouragement, and partnership. Your resilience and determination inspire me every day.
“As we transition, I urge you to remain committed to our shared vision of a prosperous, inclusive, and vibrant Edo State. Let’s continue to work together to build a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and generations to come.
“Here is to a smooth transition and a brighter November.”
