The Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the Edo State governorship election, Asue Ighodalo, has described the ongoing poll as the “worst in Nigeria’s history” due to alleged electoral irregularities.
At a press conference on Sunday, Ighodalo cited instances of manipulation, particularly in Ikpoba/Okha, questioning the credibility of the results, according to Politics Nigeria.
Ighodalo called for an investigation into these allegations to ensure the people’s will is respected.
Edo State’s electoral process has drawn scrutiny, with concerns over transparency and fairness.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has yet to comment on the allegations.
The outcome of the election remains uncertain, with many awaiting the final results.
“In Ikpoba/Okha Ologbo, the figure for accredited voters was NIL, yet the APC was declared to have received 227 votes while the PDP received 103. How is this even possible?” he asked.
Ighodalo also cited another polling unit in the same area where “the number of accredited voters was recorded as 156, but the APC was given 2,110 votes, and the PDP received just 57, with no votes recorded for the Labour Party, ” he said.
