The Asue/Ogie Campaign Council, the campaign organization of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, has cautioned against relying on external influence to win the upcoming governorship election.
Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, the Director-General of the council, made this statement during a solidarity march for the PDP governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, in Benin City.
Iduoriyekemwen emphasized that President Bola Tinubu has consistently championed democracy in Nigeria and urged the people of Edo State to remain committed and vote for the PDP candidate, according to Daily Post.
He dismissed the opposition’s attempts to distract the public with a recent court judgment, expressing confidence that the judgment would not stand.
Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate, addressed the crowd, encouraging them to support the party and promising a brighter future for the state.
He emphasized the importance of getting their Permanent Voter Cards ready for the September 21 election.
Other party chieftains, including Rev. Olu Martins, Deputy Director of Media and Publicity, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Blessing Agbebaku, and PDP lawmakers, participated in the solidarity rally, showing their support for the party’s candidates.
Addressing the crowd of supporters and party’s faithful, Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate, accompanied by his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, urged the people to support the party to win the election.
According to him, “by the grace of God, by September, when you people would have voted for me and Ogie, more upward movement will come.
“I want you to remain strong. I want you to remain happy. Don’t be afraid of anything. God is in control. Everybody should get their PVCs ready for the September 21 election.
“We will vote for PDP to ensure that the votes are counted and we will follow it to the collation centre until we are announced the winner and the state will continue to prosper,” he said.
