President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm Easter felicitations to Christians in Nigeria and worldwide, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and revitalizing the economy.
In his Easter message released on Sunday, the President reflected on the significance of the season, urging Nigerians to embrace hope and unity amid national challenges.
President Tinubu described Easter as a celebration of sacrifice, redemption, and hope, drawing parallels with his administration’s vision for Nigeria.
“The Holy Week calls us to reflect deeply on the enduring values of sacrifice, redemption, love, and hope. As President of our blessed nation, I draw inspiration from this timeless message of hope and renewal,” he said.
He assured citizens of his unwavering dedication to delivering “a better, more just, and prosperous Nigeria for all.”
Addressing recent violent incidents across the country, the President expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives but vowed that insecurity would be decisively tackled.
“The recent tragic incidents and the loss of lives in some parts of our country deeply saddened me. I understand the pain and fear these incidents have caused,” he said.
“Let me assure you that my administration’s resolve to restore peace and security remains unshakable. Forces of evil will never prevail over our country.”
He revealed that he had issued “clear directives to the Armed Forces and all relevant security agencies to end insecurity decisively and without delay,” expressing confidence that progress was being made.
The President acknowledged the economic hardships faced by Nigerians but pointed to “encouraging signs of recovery.”
“We are grateful to all Nigerians for your patience and resilience as our economy begins to show positive improvements,” he stated.
“We are working tirelessly to restore investor confidence, stabilize key sectors, and build an inclusive economy that serves the interests of all Nigerians.”
President Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain steadfast, drawing a parallel between Christ’s resurrection and Nigeria’s ability to overcome challenges.
“Just as Christ triumphed over death, so too shall our country triumph over every challenge we face. The present moment may be cloudy, but it will usher in a glorious day,” he declared.
He emphasized national unity as Nigeria’s greatest strength, saying: “The task before us is enormous, but together, with faith and determination, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome.”
The President also extended goodwill to Pope Francis, expressing gratitude for his recovery from illness. “We join the global Christian community in thanking God for Pope Francis’s recovery. We pray that his renewed strength continues to inspire his leadership and service to humanity.”
Concluding his message, President Tinubu prayed for peace and prosperity in Nigeria: “May the risen Christ bless our homes with peace and our nation with continued unity and prosperity. Happy Easter to all my fellow Nigerians.”
