The Federal Road Safety Corps has launched over 200 mobile court operations across Nigeria as part of its Easter special patrol activities aimed at curbing traffic offences and enhancing road safety during the 2025 Easter celebration.
This was disclosed by the Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
According to the Corps Marshal, the mobile courts are being deployed to ensure a safe and smooth Easter holiday nationwide, which spans from Thursday through April 23.
He further revealed that a Situation Room has been activated at the FRSC National Headquarters to coordinate surveillance and provide timely responses throughout the operations.
“This, he said, would be to collate and process information for dissemination to relevant commands and stakeholders, as the case may be.”
As part of the enforcement campaign, the Corps will conduct extensive mobile court operations to address a range of traffic violations.
“To this end, the corps would carry out aggressive enforcement, including conducting over 200 mobile court operations, to check the following offences.
“Speeding and dangerous driving, overtaking, lane indiscipline/route violation, road obstructions, use of a phone while driving, overloading, and seatbelt/child restraint use violations.
“Also included are passenger manifest violations, operation of mechanically deficient and rickety vehicles, latching and twist-lock violations, among others,” he said.
In a move to bolster the success of the patrols, Mohammed has instructed commanding officers across the country to collaborate with strategic partners within their jurisdictions to secure both logistical and security support.
The FRSC boss listed key stakeholders to include military and police units—whether en route or resident—as well as operatives from the Department of State Services, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
“Others are the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing; National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); State Traffic Management Agencies.
“Also, state-owned NGOs; ambulance service providers; National Network on Emergency Rescue Services (NNES); Federal Road Maintenance Agencies; and Federal Fire Service,” he added.
Expressing confidence in the readiness of the Corps, Mohammed said he expects continued cooperation from road users and other security partners during the holiday period.
He also noted that volunteers would be on hand to support the Corps in managing traffic.
