The Director General of the Department of State Services, Adeola Ajayi, has granted the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, access to his legal team.
The DSS had restricted Kanu’s access to his legal team after he caused an uproar at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he demanded the recusal of Justice Binta Nyako.
The legal team, led by his counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, met with Kanu at the DSS facility in Abuja on Monday.
In a post on X, Ejimakor said the legal team visited Kanu on Monday, the first of such since September 27.
He also acknowledged the presence of Mazi Ndidi Awurum, who traveled from the United States, and noted that the legal team’s efforts, alongside Aguocha’s intervention, played a crucial role in the outcome.
“Today, on the directives of the DG DSS, the #MnkLegalTeam conducted the first successful visitation with MAZI NNAMDI KANU since Sept. 27.
“Mazi Ndidi Awurum, who came from the US was with us. Our ramrod legal forays & Hon Obi Aguocha’s intervention were crucial to this outcome,” Ejimakor wrote on X.
