The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on America to coach Nigeria on its path of democracy.
Senator Akpabio said this while addressing a delegation from the American embassy in Nigeria, led by the Chargé d’Affaires, David Greene.
He urged the US to continue to play the big brother role in coaching Nigeria and other nations on their path of democracy.
He added that he believes in the American democracy, hoping that the country will extend its hand of fellowship to other nations including Nigeria, according to Punch.
“I am a believer in the American democracy and I ask that you continue to offer assistance to Nigeria and other countries as we walk our way up the ladder of democracy,” Akpabio said.
In his remark, Greene said his team was seeking collaborative efforts with the Nigerian Senate on multiple fronts.
Greene said, “We came here today to pay a courtesy call on the Senate President to congratulate him and also in hopes that we can find ways to work together for the collective good of the Nigerian people.”
