Chelsea took a giant step toward the Europa Conference League final with a dominant 4-1 win over Djurgarden in Stockholm, effectively settling the semi-final tie in the first leg.
The visitors struck early, with Jadon Sancho opening the scoring after a clever setup from Enzo Fernandez.
Fernandez turned provider again minutes later, threading a pass to Noni Madueke, who made it 2-0 before the break.
After the interval, Chelsea injected fresh energy into the match by introducing Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Moises Caicedo, and Trevoh Chalobah, a move that quickly snuffed out any lingering hopes of a home revival.
Jackson capitalized on a defensive mix-up to score into an empty net, then delivered a moment of brilliance with a top-corner finish just five minutes later, stretching the lead to four.
Despite the scoreline, the Djurgarden faithful continued to back their side with unwavering support, and were finally rewarded when Isak Alemayehu met a cross at the far post, heading into the ground and in off the underside of the bar past Filip Jorgensen.
While the late goal gave the home side something to cheer, it’s unlikely to influence the overall outcome.
Chelsea return to Stamford Bridge with a commanding three-goal advantage, with a potential final against Real Betis or Fiorentina now firmly in sight.
