The Nigerian Senate is set to begin screening seven new ministerial nominees appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
The screening process is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, following Tinubu’s request to the Senate to confirm the nominees.
The nominees include Nentawe Yilwatda for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Muhammadu Dingyadi for Labour & Employment, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu for State Foreign Affairs, and Jumoke Oduwole for Industry, Trade and Investment.
Others are Idi Mukhtar Maiha for Livestock Development, Yusuf Ata for State, Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad for State Education.
President Tinubu’s cabinet reshuffle saw the removal of five ministers, including Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (State, Housing and Urban Development), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development), according to Channels TV.
Additionally, 10 ministers were reassigned to new portfolios.
Notable reassignments include Yusuf Sununu to Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Olatunji Alausa to Minister of Education, and Bello Goronyo to Minister of State Works.
The cabinet reshuffle aims to enhance the effectiveness of Tinubu’s administration. The Senate’s screening process will determine the fate of the new nominees.
