Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has urged his teammates to approach their upcoming Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund with caution, despite the difference in league standings.
The highly anticipated showdown is set to take place this Saturday at the Allianz Arena.
Still chasing his first major club trophy, the England captain highlighted the importance of not underestimating Dortmund, especially given the scale and intensity of the fixture.
Kane also noted the potential impact of Bayern’s home fans, expressing confidence in their ability to lift the team during crucial moments.
“Well, I think it maybe suits their profile of player a little bit and just their style of play. There are teams sometimes in the Bundesliga who drop (back) and make it difficult to break down, and we’ve experienced that as well. They’re not always easy because on the counter-attack, they can be dangerous.
“Like I said, they’re a top team because of the players they have. You see that in the Champions League especially. We have to be careful. We have to be careful in every game because it’s tight there at the top. If we can win that game, it’ll be a huge step towards the success that we want.”
This Saturday, Munich sets the stage for another edition of Der Klassiker. But unlike the usual top-of-the-table clash, this encounter pits the league leaders against a mid-table contender, first-placed Bayern Munich hosting eighth-placed Borussia Dortmund.
With 68 points, Bayern sit at the summit of the Bundesliga, while Dortmund trail far behind with 41. The stakes remain high: a loss for either side carries weighty consequences, while even a draw could trigger a tense Endspurt for both.
Bayern’s priority is to fend off a surging Bayer Leverkusen in the race for the Meisterschale.
Meanwhile, Dortmund are desperate to scrape together enough points to qualify for European competition, never mind securing a spot at its elite level.
