Bayern Munich failed to take advantage of Bayer Leverkusen’s dropped points, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Borussia Dortmund in a thrilling encounter.
Earlier on Saturday, Leverkusen were held to a 0-0 draw by Union Berlin, presenting Bayern with an opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points. However,

The match started with Julian Brandt firing into the side netting for Dortmund, but it was Bayern who controlled much of the first half, creating several key chances. Harry Kane had his header saved by Gregor Kobel around the 20-minute mark, and ten minutes later,
Josip Stanisic sent a free header over the bar. Bayern’s Michael Olise was also denied in a one-on-one situation by Kobel, who stood firm in goal, keeping out another effort from Kane just before halftime to ensure a 0-0 scoreline at the break.
Despite Bayern’s dominance, Dortmund struck first in the 48th minute. Maximilian Beier gave the visitors the lead with a header at the far post from Julian Ryerson’s cross, against the run of play.
Bayern responded with vigor, almost equalizing in the 56th minute when Waldemar Anton’s attempted clearance rattled the crossbar.
The equalizer came in the 65th minute through Raphael Guerreiro, who, as a substitute, finished a well-worked move with calmness to score against his former team.
Just minutes later, Bayern took the lead. Serge Gnabry, another substitute, dribbled through Dortmund’s defense and slotted past Kobel with composure to make it 2-1.
However, Dortmund refused to go down without a fight and leveled the score in the 75th minute. Waldemar Anton pounced on the rebound after Serhou Guirassy’s initial shot was parried to make it 2-2.
Late in the game, Dortmund’s Pascal Groß had a golden opportunity to steal all three points but sent a lofted f ininish over the bar. In the end, the points were shared, leaving Bayern six points ahead of Leverkusen at the top of the table, while Dortmund remain in eighth place.
