Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to empowering women, making them self-sustained and self-sufficient for societal development.
Speaking at the flag-off of cash transfer and distribution of rice processing machines to women by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development on Tuesday, Mohammed highlighted his government’s commitment to women empowerment programs.
He noted that the state government has been conducting periodic women empowerment programs to reduce poverty and related vices among women, according to Nigerian Tribune.
Mohammed commended the Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, for bringing new frontiers for women empowerment and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving women’s lives.
The Governor emphasized his resolve to implement programs and policies promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, acknowledging the crucial role women play in shaping society.
The Minister, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, stated that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration has procured rice processing machines and other women empowerment tools to address women’s plight and sufferings.
The overseeing Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, appreciated Governor Mohammed for providing an enabling environment for women’s development and the Minister for championing women’s empowerment across the country.
According to him, “Today’s event marks the beginning of the distribution of rice processing machines to women groups selected for the flagging off with more women to benefit in the near future.
“I have learnt that women have also been targeted for conditional cash transfer.”
Bala Mohammed added, “I am happy to inform you that my Government has recorded tremendous achievement towards supporting these vulnerable groups with skills acquisition materials like Sewing/embroidery machines, pop-corn making machines, grinding machines, Hairdressing machines among others.”
