The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu, has refuted the claims that he “disowned the presentation of the PDP Flag to the party’s governorship candidate in Rivers state last Saturday.”
In a press statement signed by the Special Adviser to the National Chairman, Media and Communications, Simon Imobo-Tswam, Ayu, stated that he did not issue any statement about the Rivers PDP campaign flag-off.
He also stated that, “When the time comes, the whole world will know who is the real (PDP) candidate.”
The press statement partly reads,
“…With all emphasis and with with every weight at our disposal, we state as follows:
“The National Chairman, has not, in particular, made any comment, either formally or informally, on the recent PDP Campaign Flag-off in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, and does not plan to.
“Furthermore, the national chairman has not, in general, issued any statement concerning the Rivers State Chapter of the PDP – either about its activities or inactivities.
“Those who procured the internet terrorists for the dirty job are amateurs, and forgot to tell their hirelings that the national chairman’s name is “Iyorchia, not “Iyohia”; and that he prefixes his name with “Dr.,” not “Sen.”
“It is very clear, therefore, that the “Breaking News” is the mischievous work of crisis-merchants who abhor peace or cyber-bandits who want to draw traffic to their sites, using Dr. Iyorchia Ayu’s good name. Either way, their motives are deplorable.
“For their information, Ayu’s undivided focus on his redemptive national assignment has inured him to cheap blackmail or media violence. He remains unshaken and unshakable in giving Nigeria a President of PDP extraction, Come May 29, 2023.
“The general public, especially the PDP Family, is, thus, advised to ignore the the fake news, and rather intensify their efforts in ensuring that the party displaces the ruling APC in the Presidential Villa and secures at least 25 governorships in the next general elections.”
