The Lagos State Government has appealed to the #EndBadGovernanceInNig protesters to avoid violence and respect public and private property.
This call was made by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, in Alausa on Friday.
Dr. Olumide emphasized the importance of peaceful demonstrations, highlighting the state’s ongoing efforts to alleviate citizens’ hardships.
He stated, “Protesters should avoid damaging structures that serve residential, commercial, and institutional purposes. This period calls for reflection and respect for buildings, given their societal value, high construction costs, and essential> functions.”
He further pointed out that Lagos’s physical structures contribute significantly to the city’s landscape and cultural heritage. “All hands must be on deck to build a liveable, organized, orderly, and sustainable physical environment,” he added.
The Commissioner urged the public to collaborate in maintaining an orderly and aesthetically pleasing environment, stressing that the destruction of property undermines collective progress.
