The Arewa Community in Southern Nigeria has criticized Ohanseze’s call for unconditional release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu before May 29.
According Daily Post, the leader of the Arewa community, Musa Saidu made this criticism in a statement he signed, while responding to the call by the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuayanwu
Saidu asked, “Where were they when Kanu was leading IPOB militants to kill innocent people in the South East.
Iwuanyanwu had called on Buhari to release Kanu before swearing-in of the administration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on May 29.
Expressing worries over the killing in the South-East, Saidu stated that Iwuanyawu’s call was wrong noting that releasing Kanu would not put an end to the killing
Saudi said, “Not only in the South East, so many members of the Arewa community were attacked in Port Harcourt and nobody said anything, we have the figures, we have even the photos of those killed in cold blood.
“Now they’re clamouring for his release, what guarantee are they giving that the killings will not continue if he is released.”
Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services, since he was extra-ordinarily renditioned from Kenya.
The IPOB leader was brought back to continue his trial before the Nigerian court, over his agitation for Biafra.
However, Kanu had been discharged and acquitted by the Court of Appeal, the Federal Government has refused to release him.
