The leader of the APC in Plateau State, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, has expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the upcoming Local Government elections.
Addressing a stakeholders meeting in Jos on Monday, Lalong commended the party leadership for its reconciliation efforts and assured members that their concerns, including the non-appointment of a Minister for Plateau State, have been brought to the President’s attention.
Lalong criticized the Speaker of the House of Assembly for refusing to swear in six elected APC members, despite a court judgment, and for allegedly asking members to sign resignation letters before being sworn in, according to Independent.
He urged APC members in the House to prevail on the Speaker to do the right thing.
Meanwhile, the party chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, has reiterated the party’s readiness to participate in the elections and confidence in victory, citing the poor performance of the current PDP government. Senator Diket Plang encouraged members to remain steadfast and explore intraparty dispute resolution mechanisms.
Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Madaki Ajiji assured the party of the loyalty of APC members in the House.
