Senate President Godswill Akpabio has refuted reports that he promised to purchase new aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, despite the country’s economic challenges.
Akpabio described the report as false and the work of propagandists and fifth columnists.
In a statement, Akpabio clarified his position during a condolence visit to Senator Tahir Monguno, stating that the report was untrue and aimed at tarnishing his image, according to Politics Nigeria.
He reassured Nigerians that the Senate is focused on delivering legislation that supports President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Akpabio expressed satisfaction with the improved security situation in Borno State and urged Nigerians to continue praying for the administration.
He commended the people of Borno for their support and encouraged them to continue backing the administration.
“I never said I would buy a new plane for the President and his Vice, regardless of Nigerians’ hunger or otherwise,” Akpabio stated. “It’s the handiwork of propagandists and fifth columnists who never see anything good in what we’re doing.” He added, “Be rest assured, pray for the government, have patience, and be assured that the combination of Tinubu and Shettima will bring wealth and prosperity to all.”
