The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, returned to the State on Wednesday, to preside over the State Executive Council meeting scheduled for Thursday, amidst all the controversies surrounding his resignation as part of the resolutions reached during the meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Report revealed that Aiyedatiwa returned to the state on Wednesday, and went to his office to conduct some official activities.
According to the PUNCH, a reliable source in the deputy governor’s office said Aiyedatiwa would preside over the state Executive Council meeting that would be held on Thursday.
The source said, “The deputy governor is around, and he has resumed office today (Wednesday).
“He would preside over the exco meeting tomorrow (Thursday).”
It would be recalled that the deputy governor has been struggling to get hold of his position since impeached notice was served on him by the State House of Assembly, levelling some gross misconduct against Governor Akeredolu’s deputy, which some people believed, was fuelled by the difference between him and his principal, who claimed Aiyedatiwa was pushing for his impeachment while on medical vacation abroad.
Meanwhile, the impeachment process was stalled as the state Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, refused the request of the Assembly to set up a seven-man panel to investigate the deputy governor.
However, Tinubu met with stakeholders in the Ondo All Progressives Congress last week, over the political crisis rocking the state.
