The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has called for an emergency closed session during the plenary session on the floor of the red chamber on Tuesday.
Akpabio took the step, following the action of the Chief Whip of the house, Senator Ali Ndume, who angrily staged a walkout after he was cut short of an important observation he raised against the President of the Senate.
Senator Ndume had raised a point of order, citing order 54 of the Senate Rule Book, to draw the attention of the Senate President to the way the affairs of the chamber were being handled by him, which were against the rules of the Senate.
“Mr. President there are some things we do in this chamber that are against the rules. Sir, nobody is too big to learn,” Ndume said.
Meanwhile, the Senate President had, hardly allowed the lawmaker to end his speech, when he ruled him out of order.
However, a visibly infuriated Ndume then stormed out of the chamber and went straight to his office.
He was barely settling down in his office when he received a call from a colleague to return to the chamber for an executive session.
The executive session was still, however, ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
