Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has reassured the civil servants in the state of his unwavering plan to pay up their salary arrears.
Adeleke gave this reassurance in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The state workers have unpaid salaries of up to 30 months, dating back beyond the Governor’s administration, even from his predecessors.
However, the governor said he recognizes the efforts of the civil servants in the state and hopes that these efforts would elevate the workforce to meet and exceed global standards.
He wrote, “As an administration that recognizes the crucial role civil servants play as the backbone of our government, and one that places utmost priority on their welfare, we are unwavering in our commitment to fulfill our promise of settling the 30 months outstanding salaries and other benefits owed to our dedicated workforce by previous administrations.
“Under my leadership, our administration has implemented stringent measures to initiate the payment of salary arrears, pension payments, and other outstanding benefits.
“We believe that by taking these actions, with the support of everyone, we can elevate our workforce to meet and exceed global standards.”
