A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Adamu Garba has criticized the Federal Government over its inability to repatriate embattled former deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu.
In a tweet on Monday, Garba expressed worries why a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would be facing jail term in a foreign country.
He also noted that the United States of America, the United Kingdom, or any other European country would not allow such.
“If not for the weakness of our system and stenches of colonialism, how can a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ike Ekweremadu serve a jail term in the foreign land?
”Would America, the UK or any European country allow that?
”No matter the offence, he deserves to be repatriated back to Nigeria, face Nigeria court and be sanctioned by the Nigeria law.
”I see this as an assault on our sovereignty, laws and the status of our statehood in the international sphere,” he tweeted.
PUNCH METRO reported that Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice and a doctor were found guilty of human organ trafficking by a court in the UK.
Although they are yet to be sentenced by the court, they are being kept in custody pending the announcement of their sentences.
