As the September 28 Local Government chairmanship and councillorship elections in Anambra state approach, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, has urged all chairmanship and councillorship candidates to work tirelessly to secure all seats in the state, vowing not to rig for them.
Addressing party faithfuls at Onitsha South Local Government Secretariat, Ezeokenwa emphasized that APGA will not rig elections, stating, “time has passed when the candidates were relying on election rigging to emerge victorious in the polls… election rigging had been outdated, out-fashioned and outlawed.”
He handed over the party flag to Chief Emeka Orji, saying, “we know the deep commitments and sacrifices we have made to APGA and we will uphold it to the end as we start our journey with 17 over 17 in Onitsha South which is APGA controlled council area… APGA will not rig election for anyone.”
APGA stalwarts, Anthonia Tabansi-Okoye and Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, pledged to contribute to the party’s total victory. Sir Peter Okala, State Director of Campaign, ASMATA APGA Support Group, expressed optimism about Emeka Orji’s win due to his quality leadership. Other supporters, including Chinedu Ezekwike, Chief Emmanuel Idoko, and Chief Bonaventure Muo, also spoke in favor of APGA and Orji.
Ezeokenwa insisted that APGA has no excuse to lose the chairmanship of Onitsha South, describing it as an APGA-dominated council area. With the party’s focus on fair elections and quality leadership, APGA is confident of securing all seats in the state.
