A former Delta State governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Olejeme, has called on the people of the state to rally around the ministerial nominee from the state, Mrs. Stella Okotete.
Recall that, Okotete, who is a member of the All Progressive Congress, was nominated by the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday for a ministerial appointment.
The much awaited ministerial list of the President was received by the Senate on Thursday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, after which, 28 names were reeled out, including the name of Okotete.
Olejeme, who described Okotete as a God-fearing and committed individual, appealed to all Deltans to gird their loins and rally support for the ministerial nominee so as to make her job easier as the representative of the state in the yet-to-be-formed cabinet of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tribune reported that she stressed the need to appraise Okotete’s numerous potentials and skills in accomplishing her new God-given assignment rather than seeking to pull her down.
Olejeme maintained that the nominee’s wisdom and experience would help steer Delta State and the nation to a successful destination, adding that the appointment had made a good start in the nation’s tortuous journey to reclaiming its glory.
Olejeme, in a statement signed by her media aide, Benjamin Atu, was reacting at the weekend to what she termed the social media attacks against Okotete, further called on those behind the attacks to please shield their sword and forgive every personal grievance against her, as nobody is perfect in life.
“Only God is perfect. Our common goal should be how to bring the dividends of democracy to Deltans and Nigerians at large,” Olejeme said.
She frowned against the division and strongly appeals to all Deltans to put aside every human weakness and work together for the common good of the state and its people. “United there is nothing we cannot accomplish”
While calling on the ministerial nominee to remain focused and steadfast, Olejeme said, “We have a lot of work ahead of us and it will be glorious on us to unite behind our ministerial nominee than pulling her down”
She prayed to God to bless Deltans for yielding to her appeal.
