The Nigerian Postal Service has unveiled a sweeping reform agenda aimed at transforming the agency into a modern, digitally-driven institution in line with global postal standards.
In a statement issued on Monday by Director of Corporate Communications Franklin Alao, NIPOST revealed the reforms operate under the theme “Change of Renewed Hope Berths at NIPOST Shores,” aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda while meeting the demands of Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
At the core of the transformation is a commitment to four key principles: innovation through cutting-edge digital solutions, strengthened accountability measures, enhanced value creation in service offerings, and improved customer service excellence.
The postal service emphasized its determination to deliver superior services while fully embracing digital transformation across its operations.
NIPOST expressed appreciation to Communications Minister Bosun Tijani for his support, while praising Board Chairman Isaac Kekemeke for his strategic vision.
The agency also commended Postmaster General Tola Odeyemi for championing institutional reforms, improving staff welfare, and driving capacity development initiatives within the organization.
A major component of the reforms includes the transition to a fully cashless operation system starting July 1, 2025.
“A major highlight of the reform package is the transition to a fully cashless system. Beginning July 1, 2025, all Post Office counters nationwide will no longer accept cash payments for their services. Customers will be required to use approved electronic channels for all transactions,” the statement read.
NIPOST described this move as critical for ensuring safer, faster, and more transparent service delivery.
Additional reform measures include implementing performance-based reward systems to incentivize staff excellence and introducing strict disciplinary protocols to maintain operational integrity. The agency is also undertaking comprehensive digital transformation of its service delivery platforms to improve efficiency.
NIPOST positioned these reforms as essential to its evolution into a dynamic player in Nigeria’s digital ecosystem, with a renewed mission to “Connect Nigeria, Deliver Solutions, and Improve Lives.” The postal service assured Nigerians of significant improvements in service quality through these modernization efforts, which represent the most substantial operational shift the agency has undertaken in decades.
The reforms signal NIPOST’s determination to remain relevant in an increasingly digital communication landscape while significantly improving service delivery to Nigerians across the country.
