Vice President Kashim Shettima has credited President Bola Tinubu’s bold and courageous leadership for propelling Nigeria onto a new growth trajectory, making the nation ripe for investments across various sectors.
Speaking on Tuesday ahead of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, Shettima praised Tinubu’s audacity and vision for a better future.
He expressed satisfaction with ministers’ understanding of key issues to be discussed during the upcoming dialogue.
Shettima urged all involved ministers to proactively drive the discussions, engage with strategic focus groups, and provide weekly updates in preparation for the visit of Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and his delegation. He emphasized the importance of leveraging Nigeria’s resources and institutional knowledge to achieve national development goals.
Highlighting the potential of Nigeria-Brazil collaboration, Shettima noted opportunities in agriculture, culture and tourism, livestock production, and military technology. He called for strategic coherence and deep understanding of the issues to be addressed during the dialogue.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, echoed Shettima’s sentiments, stating that the dialogue offers a renewed opportunity to revitalize Nigeria’s agricultural sector and achieve food sovereignty. Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, emphasized expanding cultural diplomacy beyond existing agreements, citing Brazilians’ interest in Nigeria’s creative industry.
Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru, announced plans to sign a defense agreement with Brazil and establish defense industry development and production centers in Nigeria. Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Mohammed Ali Pate, highlighted opportunities to collaborate with Brazil in manufacturing vaccines, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals.
Technical Assistant to the President on Agriculture, Ms. Marion Moon, noted that Brazil’s agricultural expertise offers invaluable insights for Nigeria’s development, particularly through projects like the $1.1 billion Green Imperative Project aimed at modernizing Nigerian agriculture through technology transfer.
The strategic dialogue is set to be preceded by a Trade and Investment Forum coinciding with the anticipated visit of Brazil’s Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services, H.E. Geraldo Alckmin.
