The National Emergency Management Agency has teamed up with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, the North East Development Commission , and the Chairperson of Song Local Government Area to assess the devastation caused by recent windstorm and fire outbreaks in several Adamawa communities.
The evaluation, conducted on Saturday, covered Ndubande, Angwan Madaki, and Sabo Geri communities, where many residents suffered extensive losses. A statement shared by NEMA on Sunday via its X handle confirmed the development.
Leading the joint assessment, Mr. Musa Yakubu from NEMA’s Planning, Search and Rescue Operations (PSARO) unit, stated, “We are here to witness firsthand the level of destruction and ensure that accurate reports reach the appropriate authorities.”
Yakubu highlighted that the disasters had wiped out vital resources. “The calamities destroyed residential buildings, food supplies, storage banks, and motorcycles, deeply affecting the residents’ livelihoods,” he said.
He further reassured the affected communities of swift intervention. “NEMA sympathises with all those impacted and assures them that their situation will be urgently reported to facilitate prompt support and relief distribution,” Yakubu added.
Officials from ADSEMA and NEDC were also present during the visit, inspecting the affected sites and engaging with community members to better understand their immediate needs.
The joint effort is expected to guide the timely delivery of relief materials to the impacted areas in the coming days.
