Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has indefinitely suspended the Emir of Daware, Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, over allegations bordering on corruption, poor leadership, and breaches of security.
The suspension was formally conveyed in a letter dated April 25, 2025, which was signed by the Permanent Secretary of Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman, and made available to journalists.
The letter stated, “Following a series of complaints made against you for maladministration, corruption, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands, and creating a vacuum that has led to all traditional issues remaining unattended, as a result of your non-staying in your domain, I am therefore directed by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, to suspend you from office indefinitely.”
Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, who previously served as the district head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area before becoming emir, has been directed to immediately hand over all government property in his possession to the secretary of the district.
Governor Fintiri has consistently maintained a strong stance against corruption, reiterating that his administration’s anti-corruption drive would touch every sector in the state, including traditional institutions.
The Adamawa State government also indicated that further actions concerning the suspended emir would be announced in due course.
