Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has emphasized the need for a collaborative military approach to combat escalating insecurity in the North-West region.
During a courtesy visit by Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Governor Sani stressed the importance of a unified framework among Northern states to tackle banditry and terrorism.
The Federal Government’s establishment of the Joint Military Command and Operation Fansan Yamma was praised by Governor Sani as a demonstration of commitment to addressing insecurity, according to Daily Trust.
The Defence Minister’s visit aimed to finalize preparations for the operation’s launch, targeting insecurity in the region.
Defence Minister Abubakar commended Kaduna State’s administration for supporting security agencies and constructing roads to enhance access to hard-to-reach areas. Governor Sani highlighted the need to address root causes of insecurity through investment in agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and citizen engagement.
A people-driven, inclusive Marshall Plan for regional development and transparent leadership for the North-West Development Commission were advocated for by Governor Sani. He also requested the Defence Minister to consider bringing Operation Safe Haven under 1 Division, Kaduna, to enhance security coordination.
In response, Minister Abubakar pledged federal support and thanked troops for their patriotic services during visits to 1 Division Nigerian Army, Air Training Command, and frontline local governments. With Operation Fansan Yamma set to launch, hopes are high that the joint military effort will effectively tackle the region’s insecurity challenges.
