The Imo State Government has dismissed as “fake, malicious, and unfounded” posters circulating on social media suggesting that Governor Hope Uzodimma is running for Vice President in 2027 alongside APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
According to a press statement issued by Commissioner for Information Declan Emelumba, “Everyone in Nigeria is quite aware that Uzodimma is one of the fiercest supporters of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and has canvassed national support for him to succeed in his assignment.”
Emelumba described the posters as “laughable and preposterous,” stating that the governor is focused on his second term mandate and supporting President Tinubu. He accused opponents of the federal administration of spreading fake news to sow discord between Tinubu and his loyalists.
The Commissioner warned those behind the posters to “desist from their serpentine activities capable of undermining the peaceful coexistence between the federal and state governments.”
He emphasized, “For the avoidance of doubt, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma has no Vice presidential ambition, either now or in 2027. Any information to the contrary is fake, malicious and spurious and should therefore be ignored.”
