President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, on their groundbreaking qualification for the quarter-finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a statement on Sunday, President Tinubu praised the team’s remarkable resilience, teamwork, and diligence, which earned them a historic spot as the first African team to reach the quarter-finals in Olympic basketball.
He also commended the coach and managers for their dedication and guidance, urging the team to remain focused and strive for ultimate victory, according to TheNation.
The President assured D’Tigress of his support and that of the nation as they continue to represent Nigeria at the global sports event.
D’Tigress secured their quarter-final spot with a 79-70 win over Canada in their final group game, marking a milestone achievement for Nigerian basketball.
