A former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and former lecturer at Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Dr. Tokunbo Oshin, has passed away at the age of 66.
According to The PUNCH, he died on Saturday night at a private hospital in Sagamu after a brief illness.
Ogun State Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Ademola Balogun, confirmed the news.
He said, “Hon Oshin is dead. He passed away on Saturday at a private hospital in Sagamu. It’s a significant loss to our party, the All Progressives Congress, and our hometown, Ijebu Igbo. May his soul rest in peace.”
Former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Engr. Bayo Dayo, also a kinsman, described Oshin’s death as unexpected and deeply saddening. “It is very true that the distinguished lawmaker is dead, and I feel so sad about this unfortunate incident. We have been together for more than 20 years, and we are going to miss him very much.”
Dayo added, “He was a true friend, and I wish the family and children well. May the Lord give them the fortitude to bear the great loss.”
Oshin served as the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2007 and represented the Ijebu North State constituency 1 from 2007 to 2011. He also held various other positions, including representing the South West on the Board of the Small & Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria and serving as a Non-Executive Director of Gateway Mortgage Bank Limited.
