The Social Democratic Party has dissolved its Kogi State Working Committee, effective immediately, according to a letter signed by National Chairman Alhaji Shehu Gabam and Secretary Dr. Olu Agunloye dated 22nd July, 2024.
The National Working Committee took the decision after reviewing reports on the state chapter’s activities and developments, citing the party’s 2022 Constitution as amended.
A seven-member Caretaker Committee has been appointed to oversee the state chapter for 90 days or as determined by the NWC, according to Daily Post.
Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi, the deputy governorship candidate in the November 2023 election, will chair the committee.
The NWC will conduct a fresh congress in Kogi State to elect a new State Working Committee soon.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has been formally informed of the dissolution and replacement of the Kogi State Working Committee with a Caretaker Committee.
“This is to officially inform your office that the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Social Democratic Party has received and considered reports on the activities and developments of the Kogi State Chapter and has, accordingly, dissolved the Kogi State Working Committee in line with the 2022 Constitution of the Party as amended.
