In a bid to resolve the long-standing issue of multiple taxation in the hospitality industry, the Ekiti State Government has assured hotel owners in the state of its commitment to finding a solution.
Pastor Niran Olatona, Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Board of Internal Revenue, made the promise during a meeting with the Ekiti State Hotel Owners Forum.
He disclosed that some taxes have already been harmonized and that the Taiwo Oyedele Committee, set up by the Federal Government, is nearing completion of its work on tax harmonization across the country, according to Daily Post.
Olatona urged hotel owners to cooperate with the government by paying their taxes promptly, assuring them that this would enable the government to deliver essential services to the people.
He also pledged to work with the Forum to boost their patronage.
Earlier, Mr. Fola Ayedun, President of the Hotel Owners Forum, highlighted the challenges facing hotel owners in the state, including multiple taxation, low patronage, power outages, and poor road conditions.
He expressed the Forum’s support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration and requested government patronage for its members.
