The Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, has pledged to prioritize people-oriented programs with a focus on agriculture, security, health, education, and infrastructure development if elected on September 21.
Akpata, a former Nigerian Bar Association President, promised to tackle unemployment, industrialize the state, and invest in social infrastructure, including roads, during a media chat at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre.
He emphasized that his government will build on existing projects that benefit the people, declare a state of emergency on infrastructure, and prioritize taxpayers’ needs, according to Independent.
Akpata also supports local government autonomy, ensuring council chairmen and councilors remain in their domains to serve the people.
With the slogan “papa, mama, and pikin” guiding his campaign, Akpata aims to bring smiles to Edo people’s faces through good governance and effective resource management.
