The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission has announced the postponement of the local government election from July 6 to November 16.
According to BSIEC Chairman, Dr. John Chen, the decision is due to logistical constraints and the need for more time to prepare and procure necessary election materials.
A revised timetable is being developed to ensure sufficient preparation time for all critical activities.
The election notice has been issued, marking the beginning of the rescheduling process, in accordance with the Electoral Act 2022, according to Nigerian Tribune.
Dr. Chen urged all political parties, candidates, and stakeholders to cooperate with the commission to ensure a free and fair election. Detailed guidelines will be released soon.
