The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has stated that if he was elected president, he would not solicit foreign aids as President Bola Tinubu has been doing.
In an online video shared by an X user @uptownthehommie on Saturday, Obi made this statement during a Town Hall meeting reportedly held on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, the former Anambra governor boasted that Nigeria had everything it needed for it to prosper and didn’t need all the aids that were being sort by the government.
He said, “…Several meetings outside Nigeria. Do Americans come to Nigeria when they are running election? No! Do Kenyans come to Nigeria? I will not go to any country. I’m a Nigerian and I’m running to serve Nigeria, why will I go and lobby anybody?
“I am one person who says if I’m in office we’ll stop foreign aid because we don’t need it, God gave us everything.
“We don’t need to waste anybody’s time. I said it today when I was in City Council, “Nigeria have everything it needs to be a super country, God gave us everything”.
“I don’t need to go and lobby anybody, we just need to roll our sleeves and work, it’s as simple as ABC.”
