Gunmen suspected to be Fulani bandits stormed a community in Nasarawa State on Wednesday night, shooting a newly-wedded man and abducting his wife to an unknown destination.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Vanguard, the attackers invaded the couple’s home at about 11 p.m. under the cover of darkness. The armed men reportedly opened fire on the husband before fleeing with his wife.
The incident occurred in Akaleku village, situated in Obi Local Government Area along the Lafia/Markurdi Highway.
The victims, identified as Mr. and Mrs. Alu Anzaku, had just tied the knot on April 12, 2025 — barely two weeks before the tragedy. It is believed that the couple were still in the early days of their honeymoon when the gunmen struck.
As of the time this report was filed, family members and sympathisers remained in distress, as no contact had been made and the whereabouts of the abducted wife were still unknown.
