Pandemonium erupted in Okitipupa Ward 1 as violence broke out among members of the All Progressive Congress gathered at Stella Maris College to cast their votes in the primary election.
The chaos ensued even before the accreditation and election process could commence, forcing voters to flee for safety.
The Hope, an Ondo-based Newspaper, reported that according to an anonymous voter, the violence began when a party agent supporting a particular aspirant seized the validation and accreditation papers and fled the scene in his car.
Despite attempts to apprehend him, he managed to escape, triggering the eruption of violence.
“One of the agents arrived here, seized the validation and accreditation papers, and fled in his car. They tried to chase him but couldn’t catch up, which led to the eruption of violence,” the anonymous individual said.
Security agents present at the ward were unable to contain the situation, and as a result, everyone fled the premises for safety.
