The 2023 Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has returned to Nigeria, after staying in the United Kingdom for about six months.
Adebutu in a video sighted online, landed in Muritala International Airport Lagos, on Friday night.
According to the PUNCH, Adebutu’s media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, confirmed to newsmen that his principal is back in the country.
The former member of the House of Representatives was received by his running mate, Adekunle Akinlade; Tola Banjo, and other leaders of the PDP in Ogun State.
It would be recalled that the PDP candidate has been accused on many occasions, to have run away from the country, to escape the law over the allegations of vote-buying during the March 18 Governorship election in Ogun State.
The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Tunde Oladunjoye, had accused the PDP candidate of trying to evade the law over the allegation, asking him to return home and face the law.
“He is afraid of his shadow. We also know too well that he is running away from being arraigned alongside other members of his party. If he claims otherwise, the best way to prove us wrong is to buy a ticket and board the next available flight home,” Oladunjoye said in a recent interview with The PUNCH.
Meanwhile, Adebutu said during an interview, that he decided to remain in the UK, where he had gone to receive medical attention after the general elections, due to threats to his life.
The former Reps member lost the last Governorship election in Ogun State to Dapo Abiodun, who was the candidate of the APC, and the present governor of the state.
